Though some may argue that you need a lifetime to really get to grips with Paris, you can actually see a lot of what this world-famous city has to offer in just a few days. All you need is a bit of organisation and some good planning.
So if you’ve got a weekend break in the City of Lights coming up soon, here’s how you can make the most of your fleeting visit to the French capital.
Day one
When you arrive in any city, the first thing that you should do is get your bearings. The best way to do this is to find a map, locate your hotel and work from there. This should give you a good idea of where you are in relation to the major sites and make finding your way home a lot easier at the end of a night out.
Once you’ve got a general idea of the city’s layout, the best way to fix everything in your mind is to get a bird’s eye view. In Paris, this has to mean a trip to the Eiffel Tower. Whether you decide to walk up or take the lift, the view from the top is truly spectacular with the entire city laid out at you feet.
Day two
Once you’ve found your Parisian feet, it’s time to do a little bit of exploring, so get some comfy shoes on and hit the streets!
One of the best ways to see Paris is by making a tour of its museums, walking between them to get a real feel for the city. This will give you the chance not only to see some of the most famous pieces of art in the world but also to explore the streets, avenues and parks that sit between.
Day three
After your cultural exertions on day two, day three is for relaxing. Wander around the streets of Montmartre, sip a coffee in a café, do some people watching, take in a show – pretty much all the sophisticated and philosophical activities the city is known for.
If weather permits, there’s nothing like an evening stroll along the Seine giving you a chance to see all of the buildings and monuments of the city lit up for the night. You can even take a riverside tour if you want to give your final evening something extra.
Whether you’ve got a few days or a few weeks, Paris is a fantastic destination. If you’ve been before then now is the time to start your Parisian adventure with deals to drive costs down for a holiday that’s beneficial all round.
