How to Spend a Weekend in Las Vegas

Gambling is what has made Las Vegas. It is the city where fortunes are made and millions are lost in a matter of minutes. But that is not all of Las Vegas. From visiting Las Vegas strip to the nightlife and casinos, Las Vegas packs much more entertainment than meets the eye. Here are five things that you must do if you are in Las Vegas, sans gambling –

See the Bellagio Fountains

Every day, between 3 p.m. to midnight, an 8.5-acre lake in the heart of Las Vegas erupts into an orchestrated cacophony of classical music playing to the tune of 1,214 jets shooting water up to 460 feet in the air. The sheer majesty of lights, water and music blended into a single show is one of the most amazing sights you will ever see for free.

See the Cirque du Soleil

Las Vegas features many good cirque shows. They are priced a bit steeply at roughly 150$ per person, but the shows are really amazing. They have experienced gymnasts and acrobats who perform a mesmerizing show every night and it’s a testament to their skill that they often have regulars, people who see the same show again and again, just to experience that adrenaline rush through the body of the acrobats.

See the Shark Reef Aquarium

If you are interested in the marine life, you can go see the Shark Reef at the Mandalay Bay, only for $16. It houses lots of sharks, sting rays, sea turtles, crocodiles, and has recently acquired its very own komodo dragon.

Eat a Designer Dinner

Las Vegas excels in visual art and overdoing things. If money is not a big issue, you can go to some amazing eateries where the food, although very good, is just an excuse to display color and art and soothe your eyes. Restaurants like Guy Savoy and Atelier de Joel Robuchon often hire top notch artists and put up an amazing show for their patrons.

Ride the New York-New York Roller Coaster

This will be one of your most memorable roller coaster rides. What it lacks in wildness and thrill, is more than made up with the fact that this ride goes right through the New York-New York, a Las vegas hotel on the strip and it is a much better way to tour the hotel than on foot.

I hope you find this entertaining and useful and may you have a great time in Las Vegas.
