1. Visit the Hall of The Red Earl

For historical minded visitors to Galway there is the Hall of the Red Earl. This building dates back to the 13th century when it was built by Richard the Red Earl as a display of his great power and influence in the West Region. While the original structure is long gone a replica/tourist spot exists on the same land.

2. Cafe Griffins

If you are a more culinary person you certainly want to visit Cafe Griffins. This fantastic eatery has been operating continuously since 1876 and is famous for its tea and coffee ceremonies as well as snacks like biscuits and finger sandwiches.

3. Druid Theater

If you are a patron of the arts you should head on over to the Druid Theater. This theater which is located in historic old town Galway is an institution in the community. They offer both local performances as well as groups that tour with a particular show.

4. Lynch’s Castle

No trip to Ireland is complete without a visit to one of the local castles. This town castle is one of the oldest in Ireland and also one of the best preserved. They also serve great traditional food in the courtyard and inside.

5. Galway Cathedral

There are many Catholics in the city of Galway and many of them worship at this gorgeous cathedral on the banks of the River Corrib. This is a great example of classic architecture as well as a house of god.
