Tips For Saving Money To Travel

Having the opportunity to travel around the world is something many dream of doing.  Well, I’m here to tell you that dream can become a reality!  Being able to take such a trip has little to do with how much money you earn.  What it really boils down to is how passionate you are about doing the journey and what kind of sacrifices are you willing to make in order to save enough money to make it happen.

The following 5 tips are ways in which you can make this ‘dream’ become a ‘reality’ sooner:

1)  Think what it will ‘cost’ you before you buy something

The next time you go to purchase something consider what it might ‘cost’ you in terms of your dream trip.  The coat  you notice on the rack (even though you have a few already) might set you back a few hundred dollars.  Consider how many nights you could be spending in an exotic location with that of money.  I find this technique works well.

2)  Free Exercise

Gym memberships, yoga feels and expensive athletic and sporting club memberships can really add up over time.  Instead, consider jogging at nearby parks and/or doing light resistance training or yoga at home.

3)  Make Your Own Meals

Eating out really adds up over time!  Consider brown bagging it and brining your lunches and dinners to work.  Not only will you save money but you’ll also have more time to research travel locations during your break time since you won’t be waiting for your food to be prepared at a restaurant.

4)  Learn To Say, ‘No’

Sometimes it’s hard to say no to friends and family; however, if you’re serious about saving for travel you have to learn how to do it in order not to spend money on things you don’t really want or need .

5)  Change Daily Habits

Finally, consider analysing your daily habits to see if you are throwing money away at things that aren’t really enhancing your life.  Daily outings to a coffee shop, smoking and subscriptions immediately come to mind.  By cutting back just a few dollars per day you’ll be saving thousands of dollars over the course of a year. Another way to earn is by getting a credit card that offers rewards that will benefit your travels, be it booking with your preferred airline or staying at a dream hotel; you can learn more about how Chase Ultimate Rewards Points work.
